The National Youth Agency: Conference offers guidance on commissioning positive activities

1 min read
The National Youth Agency (NYA) is joining forces with the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Department for Children, Schools and Families on 28 April for a conference on new guidance on commissioning positive activities for young people (PAYP).

Based on the lessons learnt by 15 local authorities targeted with additional PAYP funding during 2008/09, the event at Local Government House, London is intended to support all councils working with young people to deliver PAYP. "Providing a world-class youth offer is dependent on local partnerships where connections between all sectors and agencies are clear, strong and driven by responding positively and constructively to the needs of young people," said an LGA spokesperson.

The conference will look at how councils and their local partners are working together to commission positive activities for young people living in even the most challenging circumstances, showcasing local good practice and ways of responding positively and constructively to young people who are at risk of not fulfilling their full potential.
