If, like many people, you don't know what our education and training standards committee does, here is a simple description. Basically it enables us, the field, to establish a set of standards for the programmes of learning, by which any educational establishment that wishes to offer qualifying training for professional youth workers must abide. Institutions apply to be judged against the standards and panels of practitioners and NYA specialist staff assess whether the standard has been reached. The whole process is given authority because only professionally validated courses are nationally recognised by employers as giving access to professional posts in youth work.
