The award has been tailored for the parliament by a group of eight former MYPs working with NYA staff. The UKYP guidance for the award lists examples of work that Members and Deputy Members of the Youth Parliament could do or are already doing that relate to specific aims within units of the award, for example speaking to local politicians.
Chris Hutton, involved in the guidance document production, said: "Having the opportunity to gain this accreditation through work that Members of the UK Youth Parliament are already doing will look great on CVs and improves young people's future prospects."
Other group members said the award and guidance will point up the large amount of work MYPs do in their communities and also the way they can use their time in office effectively.
