Teenage pregnancy: Left holding the baby

At the front of the class, two 13-year-olds are trying to stop a plastic baby from 'crying'. It's not a typical lesson. The young people of Woolston School Language College in Southampton have had a visit from Reality!, a group of young mums who go into schools, youth clubs and colleges in the local area to educate teenagers about pregnancy.

Last year, the project worked with about 5,000 young people. Maddy Honeybone and Joanne Hamilton-Smith, two of the project's four founders, are taking the lesson today. "From the very beginning we said if we can just prevent one young woman from becoming pregnant when they're not ready, then we've succeeded," says Honeybone.
