Tax credit support website goes live

1 min read Early Years
Parents baffled by the complexity of tax credits have been thrown a lifeline by the Daycare Trust.

The charity has launched a website to help parents work out how to pay for childcare and explain the range of benefits and tax credits available.

The Paying for Childcare website is funded by HM Revenue & Customs, and is for parents in work, education or training. It also has advice for parents of disabled children.

A main feature of the site is its tax credit checker, a click-through section that aims to help parents calculate whether or not they are entitled to the notoriously complex childcare element of working tax credit.

Lucy Bosher, information manager at Daycare Trust, said: "We hope the website will take some of the mystery out of the complex mix of financial help with childcare that is available to parents. Many people seem to think tax credits are only for those on the lowest incomes but many parents who are entitled to some help with costs are missing out."
