Survey uncovers economic fears

Young people are pessimistic about the future of the UK economy, a Post Office survey has revealed.

Of the 1,500 people surveyed, 18- to 24-year-olds were the most pessimistic age group.

One in four of this age group believe it will take at least a decade before living standards recover from the economic downturn. One in three believe that the economic crisis will not end for another five years.

The recession is also changing young people's spending habits. Around half are reconsidering using their credit cards, the survey found.
