The drugs information charity spoke to drug services in 15 UK towns and cities, and found that ketamine is now one of the most widely sold drugs in eight of the areas.
Possession of the drug, generally used as an animal tranquilliser, is not illegal, but the Government has said it will ban it later this year.
In small doses ketamine can create a "high", but in larger quantities it can make the user numb, tired and lethargic. If mixed with other sedatives, including alcohol, it can cause vital parts of the body to shut down.
