84% of looked-after children had their teeth checked by a dentist at 30 September 2007 (85.8 per cent in England)

92% of looked-after children had an annual health check at 30 September 2007 (84.4 per cent in England)

In December 2007 Ofsted said: "The authority has identified homelessness as a key issue affecting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in Durham."
