Social Care News: Leaving care - Peers to examine quality ofservices

Young people from Westminster are set to investigate what their peers think about London's leaving care services.

The aim is to find out which approaches really work. "They will look ata variety of areas including finance, health, housing options, and howmuch leaving care grant each council gives," said Peter Hamilton, seniorproject worker at Westminster City Council's accommodation and leavingcare team.

The 10 young people will interview young care leavers from seven otherboroughs. Westminster's social services training unit is funding theproject and the results will be unveiled during Care Leavers' Week,which begins on 24 October.
