Scottish safety is put under scrutiny

Health
Report cards are being used to show how well Scotland is doing on child safety. It is one of 18 countries involved in the European Child Safety Alliance's review.

The cards describe how well a country is doing in terms of safety, what priority issues still need addressing and what practices should be adopted to prevent accidental injury and save more children's lives.

The areas covered include: passenger safety; pedestrian safety; the prevention of drowning; burns; poisoning; and choking. The cards are designed to assess progress, identify policy gaps and suggest priorities.

All participating countries are committed to developing plans as part of the Child Safety Action Plan initiative.
