The Creative Partnerships programme will see each school receive £15,000 a year and 15 days of support from an arts professional. The schools will get an additional £30,000 to develop partnerships with other schools in their local authority.
The collaboration between the government and the Arts Council England aims to support partnerships between schools and creative professionals. MPs have hailed it as a success thanks to its work on a lower key basis with more than 2,500 schools in deprived areas.
Jon Nicholls, art college manager at Thomas Tallis School in Greenwich, one of those selected, said so far the scheme has provided "fun, excitement and positive learning experiences."
