Rhyming Sessions: Giving Dad a chance to join in the fun

Around 20 dads and their children attended Camden council's first-ever Rhyme Time with Dad event in January at West Hampstead Library.

Fathers and their children, aged up to four, took part in an hour of rhymes, songs and storytelling. The council has been running the Rhyme Time sessions since 2001, and all libraries in Camden hold at least one event every week, but this was the first that was aimed specifically at fathers. Future events are planned at West Hampstead on the first Saturday of each month.

David Jones, the council's head of libraries and learning, said: "It's important that parents are involved in activities with their children, so when we heard that some dads in the local community felt they didn't have that opportunity, we decided to set up this event."
