On 11 September 2001, more than 3,000 people were killed in the terrorist attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Think about the long list of changes and innovations since then, from the detainees held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, to scissors and nail files being confiscated at airports. Ask young people about any changes they, or people they know, have experienced.

The US launched a military attack on Afghanistan, where Osama bin Laden and his al-Quaeda terror network were based. How has that country changed since the Taliban were removed from power? What is happening there now?
