There are three sets of elections going on in different parts of the UK on 10 June. Representatives are being chosen for the European Parliament, for various local councils and, in London, for the mayor and the London Assembly. The day has been dubbed Super Thursday, in an echo of the crucial voting stage of US primaries. Is this optimistic? How super will it be from young people's point of view?

Talk about what young people know about the powers of the different elected representatives. What are their areas of responsibility? Do young people know where to find out?

Which matters most to young people - local or European issues? Some feel local politics ignore young people's issues. But, sometimes, young people are themselves an issue, as local politicians campaign against youth nuisance or antisocial behaviour? Does this make young people want to get involved?
