At times it drove me mad, at other times it completely captured my attention. It drove me mad on account of its unnecessary repetition, occasional sloppy typographical errors and particularly the unforgiveable combination of the Youth Justice Board's youth justice strategy and the Government's wider approach to "youth justice", which includes antisocial behaviour and the respect agenda. While some of the authors' critical assertions are perfectly valid positions to advance, there is much that has been done (more commendably) by the board that remains conveniently unsaid. As a member of the board, I find that irresponsible and unfair. In other ways, the book is engaging and puts forward a persuasive analysis.
