1. Don't focus on crime that isn't a problem to young people. Talk to them about their concerns. They will be far more interested in finding solutions to problems that they feel actually touch their lives. However, there is nothing wrong with pre-emptive awareness raising if it is relevant. Young people can be an easy target for criminals. This may be because they haven't built up an awareness of what behaviour is risky and makes them vulnerable.
