1. Partnerships are a way for organisations to operate together to improve services and the lives of children. They can harness creativity and provide dynamic, responsive and co-ordinated solutions to problems.
They can also get bogged down in a frustrating, meeting-dominated culture that makes getting anything done seem like wading through porridge. Be realistic. They are usually a bit of both. Persevere, it is worth it.
2. A partnership is not a team. It may have elements of team working, but in a team everyone has the same goal. Organisations do not change their goals when they enter a partnership. Sure Start and a youth offending team can work together. But if they pretend they have the same goals, there is a risk of confusion, even chaos.
