Four premature babies at University College Hospital London's neonatal unit were recently found to have contracted the superbug known as gram-negative.

The bug was found in their bloodstream and caused the death of one of them. The gram-negative bacterium was also found on the skin of nine other babies in the same unit.

3,933 deaths involving Clostridium difficile recorded in 2009
100,000 people who are treated in hospital pick up an infection there
