Paul Morrish, deputy chief executive for external affairs, ContinYou

ContinYou has promoted Paul Morrish to the newly created post of deputy chief executive for external affairs. Morrish worked in the supplementary schools department for the past year and was previously at the homelessness charity Centrepoint.

Birmingham City Council and the primary care trust have appointed Dr Patrick Lowe as the city's first obesity tsar. The role was created by Birmingham's taskforce for children and young people's nutrition and health, and will be funded by the local health and well-being partnership.

Peter May, headteacher at the Weald School in Billinghurst and executive head of Midhurst Grammar, both in West Sussex, has been appointed as a national leader of education. May is the 100th headteacher to be given the role, which involves helping struggling schools improve by providing them with specialist advice.

The NSPCC has recruited Yasmin Kovic as safeguarding adviser for deaf children and young people and Chau Nguyen as Chinese and Vietnamese link officer. Kovic will work with the NSPCC's helplines looking at how technology can make it easier for deaf people to seek advice. Nguyen will advise NSPCC projects about Chinese and Vietnamese cultural practices.
