Participation in Action: Animation raises awareness of difficulties caused by cuts

2 mins read Participation
Government spending cuts are reducing the reach of services for children and young people across the country.

In Bolton, a group of six 16- to 18-year-olds decided to raise awareness of the issue by creating an animation about the lives of young people facing difficulties.

The group all access services run by the charity Action for Children, which has launched its third Red Book report. The Red Book is a collection of case studies from 12 families that the charity has tracked over three years. The stories tell the reality of how public spending cuts are affecting their lives.

The group was asked to find an accessible way to present the stories. They chose to make an animation and spent more than a month working on the project with a creative agency in Bolton.
