Opinion: Youth workers are always responsive

For many years I ran what would be readily dismissed as a bog standard youth club, but I like to think it was the hub for a range of "responsive" youth work. Of course, I never knew quite what response young people might require but, unlike professionals in the statutory services, I did have the discretion and flexibility to act according to the presenting situations.

I did not work to plans made in advance, except in that reacting to the wants, needs and issues of those I worked with was part of the plan. Now I could provide a range of illustrations, but let me pick two of the more unusual - one this week, the other next.
