At a price. The Education Guardian explained the need: "As in so many schools, Year 10 and 11 pupils here lug around bags bulging with books, PE equipment and much more. They exhibit the stoicism of pit ponies because they have no alternative."

Quite. It's a big problem. And very outrageous it is too. But being taxed 2 a week by a group of budding Bransons for the use of a locker doesn't sound like a proper solution. Do teachers at the school pay for the use of their staff room? Does any employer oblige workers to fork out for what is basic health and safety equipment?
