Ofsted must help teams improve

The chief of the children's services department exposed in the Channel 4 Dispatches programme, Undercover Social Worker, has warned that Ofsted must do more to help troubled child protection teams improve.

Andy Roberts, Surrey County Council's director of children's services, told CYP Now the inspectorate should offer constructive improvement support.

"Someone telling me something doesn't work isn't always what I need, because I know that," he said. "The question is how do I move it on in a way that is safe, sustainable and we can afford."
