The study by the Scottish Executive looked at 355 five- to 17-year-olds in care. It found that, of the 11- to 15-year-olds in this group, 41 per cent had a disorder, while a similar study of 149 five- to 17-year-olds in care in Wales by the Welsh Assembly Government put the figure for 11- to 15-year-olds at 40 per cent. These results were compared with a sample of 10,500 young people in private households in Scotland and Wales. An English study published last year also put the figure at 49 per cent.
