
As the Academies Bill careers through parliament on the fast track to becoming law, the government is gearing up for the task of changing the status of hundreds of schools.
To this end, the Department for Education has published a draft model funding agreement that will be used to set out the contract between government and any new academy.
The agreement itself is nothing new. The Labour government used the same model to set out the framework within which academies must operate in return for funding.
But the coalition's new version contains some notable differences. Numerous clauses relating to academies' duties have been removed.
