Teaching union NASUWT last week called for children to be taught about the role of trade unions in school. "The youngsters in our schools today grew up during the Thatcherite years of assault on the trade union movement. They are unaware of the role of trade unions," Peter McLoughlin, the president of NASUWT, told the Trades Union Congress' annual conference.
