Manchester City Council's cabinet has voted to lobby the Government over its "badly thought out and divisive" five-year strategy for education, launched earlier this month (News, 14-20 July). "The Government's promotion of choice is a deception and a deviation from the real task of making every school a school of choice," said councillor Jeff Smith, executive member for education.
