Local authorities in the capital can do more to tackle child poverty by promoting benefit take-up, according to the deputy chairwoman of the Association of London Government, Dame Sally Powell. Speaking at an ALG conference, she said London had the highest rate of child poverty in the UK but the lowest take-up of tax credits.
