The Government is to start a pilot scheme in April offering parents in Haringey, Lewisham and Bradford a week's free childcare. The Department of Work and Pensions said the two-year scheme would help parents, especially single mothers, find employment. Parents will be able to try out different childcare providers, spreading their week's allocation over the course of several weeks in order to attend job interviews.
