Confusion reigns over the fate of thousands of asylum-seeker children from the 10 countries who recently joined the European Union. "Families are terrified and terribly confused," said Alison Harvey, chairwoman of the Refugee Children's Consortium. Last week the High Court gave permission for a test case challenging the decision to go ahead. The families concerned - mainly Romany - lost their entitlement to free accommodation on 1 May, but the Home Office has not yet stopped their funds.
