Most childcare providers are happy with the way Ofsted handles new registrations and inspections but there are concerns registration takes too long, according to an NOP survey for 2004. Ofsted aims to make a decision on registration for childminders in 12 weeks and daycare providers in 25 weeks. Most said this was "about right" but a quarter of providers said the targets were too long.
