News Brief: Funding for NSPCC

The NSPCC is to get 30m from the Government to boost its helpline services, including ChildLine. The grant, which will be spread over four years, will be used to increase the numbers of calls the charity can handle. Currently, 4,500 calls are made everyday, but 2,000 of them cannot be answered. The money will also be used to integrate its online advice service There4me and to develop a text messaging service. www.nspcc.org.uk.
