
In 2009, Michael Lynas was one of the officials overseeing the very first National Citizen Service (NCS) project. Aged 27 at the time, Lynas was working as a senior policy adviser for the then leader of the opposition, David Cameron, and was tasked with ensuring the three-week social action programme pilot involving 160 young people in south London was a success.
Five years on, and things have moved on significantly for both Lynas and NCS.
In February 2013, he left his position as a Number 10 policy adviser to become director of strategy at NCS, and early this year was appointed as its inaugural chief executive.
