Transition to Adulthood: Disabled Young People

The needs of disabled young people in transition have been acknowledged since the Disabled Persons Act 1986, which made provision for local authorities to assess them. However, it was not until 2007 that the government published Aiming High for Disabled Children and allocated £19m to a transition support programme.
