FACTS AND FIGURES ON ... LOOKED-AFTER CHILDREN ADOPTION

During the year ending 31 March 2007, 3,300 looked after children were adopted. Ninety one per cent were adopted by two people (3,000). Eighty-four per cent of adopters were married, four per cent were unmarried couples (different gender), two per cent were unmarried couples (same gender) and one per cent of adopters were civil partners.
