The research, conducted with the British Youth Council, found that most young people find formal careers advice "a little bit" or "not at all" helpful, relying instead on parents, websites, teachers and friends. Furthermore, contradicting the perception that young people today have low aspirations and see being a celebrity as an attractive career, the 200 young people surveyed expressed ambitions to pursue a broad variety of careers, from a policy analyst to neurophysiologist.
