Speaking last week on BBC Radio 4's The Learning Curve, he said: "Boys and girls are accused of being gay if they have the wrong hair style or come from the wrong part of town.
"Following revised DfES guidance, Don't suffer in silence, schools now have a mandate to tackle homophobic bullying, but all too often there is a fear of addressing the issue. We need to move on and help schools sort it out," he said.
- The Anti-Bullying Alliance is holding the first of a series of regional seminars to explore ways of addressing bullying in schools at NCB on 8 March. The alliance was founded by NCB and the NSPCC.
