NCB Now: All work and no play for young editors

1 min read
The free magazine for the play sector, Play Today, opened its doors in August to two young guest editors who helped prepare the latest edition.

Ten-year-old Adam Bhula and Kamil Boriel aged 12, spent a day working with Play Today editor, Ken Ryan, and Playday campaigns officer, Amy Little, picking out their favourite Playday moments for a special themed issue of the day for the magazine.

Adam and Kamil demonstrated their editorial credentials by selecting images, writing captions, choosing headlines and briefing the regular editorial team on how they wanted the magazine to look.

PlayToday intends to repeat this process every year so that children and young people interested in media and publishing can get involved with producing the Playday special edition. Both boys are part of Headliners, a UK-wide news agency that produces news, features and content by young people for everyone. Headliners also covered one of this year's largest Playday events at Victoria Park in London.
