My life: Rachael March, 19, Leicester

I volunteer with Eyres Monsell Youth Club in Leicester. Eyres Monsell is a slightly run-down area on the outskirts of the city centre. There is a lot of anti-social behaviour on the estate and, mixed with underage drinking, smoking and drug use, it can be a scary place to live.

There are plenty of pubs for adults, and a few parks and nurseries forsmall children, but nothing much for teens. On the bright side there area couple of youth clubs. The club I work with has an after-school clubfor children aged eight to 13 and a senior club for young people aged 13to 19. At the club you have access to computers to do homework, sportsand creative activities.

I have taken part in many activities within the club, includingsnowboarding and a pool competition, where I came runner up at thecounty final last year. My favourite by far though was the "baby thinkit over" project.
