My Life: Damian Czerwiak, 18, Bedfordshire

About a year ago, I got into a lot of trouble with the police and came close to receiving an antisocial behaviour order for my behaviour in the community.

Things didn't look good until I met Hafi, a youth behaviour interventions officer from Aldwyck Housing Group, who made me realise that there are better things I could be doing with my time that would contribute to making the community a better place.

I worked with Hafi and some of my friends to create a youth hub in Houghton Regis to give the local young people an area that they can use to stay out of trouble.

We encourage young people from the community to come to the hub and take part in activities such as football, rounders and cooking healthy food.

We also held a challenge day that provided hands-on experience in carpentry, plumbing, tiling and electrics.
