ENGLAND
The main priority in England for the money found in dormant bank and building society accounts will be funding for youth projects. Other priorities for the money are schemes that help people handle their own finances better, community projects and measures to help secure the long-term future of charities.
The Bill is progressing through Parliament and will not be affected by the current credit crisis. Last year, the Treasury said money held in dormant bank accounts would allow more than 700 new places for young people to be built - equivalent to more than one in every constituency. So far, no final figure has been put on how much will be available to youth projects.
