The mental health charity's former director, Peter Wilson, who retired last week, said: "We were very concerned about the transitional stage between children and adult services." YoungMinds has been given 450,000 by the Community Fund to carry out and bring together research into the key issues. "We will be working with student counselling services, primary care trusts and a range of health and psychiatric services to find out how to address the gaps in the system," added Wilson.
The charity was set up 14 years ago by Wilson and plans to concentrate on young asylum seekers, young offenders and infant mental health.
