Mental health: Pilots to consider alternative ideas

Techniques used will include multi-systemic therapy (MST), a short-term family-based treatment of advice and support, and Treatment Foster Care, which will complement existing pilots.

The Social Exclusion Task Force plan describes how these techniques can be used to tackle conduct disorders and antisocial behaviour.

Andrew McCulloch, chief executive of the Mental Health Foundation, said: "I support MST and Treatment Foster Care for antisocial behaviour, but the Government is confusing it with mental health."
