Mental health: Alliance lobbies for bill amendments

The Mental Health Alliance, which includes YoungMinds, is trying to get seven amendments added to the bill, including a duty on mental health services to provide age-appropriate settings for young people and to make mental health services gain consent for treatment from "competent" 16- and 17-year-olds.

The charities hope the amendments will be discussed and adopted when the bill reaches report stage in the House of Lords later this month.

Kathryn Pugh, lead for the Stressed Out and Struggling project at YoungMinds, said: "There is a lot of cross-party support for the amendments."
