
You might think that, given the organisation she now heads, either adoption or fostering would be at the top of Caroline Selkirk's agenda when we meet at her London offices.
But in terms of her lobbying priorities ahead of May's general election, she has something else on her mind - promoting special guardianships. Speaking to CYP Now, Selkirk, who worked as deputy chief executive of NHS Tayside prior to taking up the post as chief executive of the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) in December, specifically highlights special guardianship orders (SGOs) as an "under-utilised" tool in efforts to find homes for the 3,500 children and young people waiting to be matched with adoptive parents.
