The organisation (previously The Foyer Federation) is discussing how the Foyer approach, which aims to provide young people with support and access to learning and work as well as accommodation, can be adapted to equip care-leavers for independent living.
The cost-effectiveness of Foyers and their value in helping vulnerable young people embark on independent lives are highlighted in two reports launched at the House of Commons last Monday (July 10).
Launch Pad for Life emphasises Foyers' value for money, with weekly costs for the residents averaging at 303 a week compared with secure training centres costing 3,168 a week and young offender institutions costing 976 a week.
What Happened Next? tracks the progress of 126 ex-residents from 10 Foyers.
Both reports were funded by the Housing Corporation.
Sophie Livingstone, Foyer's head of policy, said: "The transition to independent living for care-leavers is more difficult than for other people."
