Local elections: Hull's free school meals under threat

Free school meals for all primary pupils in Hull will be scrapped if the Liberal Democrats win control of the council in local elections next week.

Liberal Democrat councillor Carl Minns said the Labour policy cost thecouncil 3.6m. "In the long term the council can't sustain thispolicy," he said.

He argued that the money should be invested in better qualityingredients.

The council is currently under no overall control.
