The Home Office strategic document, along with the majority ofchild-centred agencies and publications use the term "children and youngpeople abused through prostitution or commercial sexual exploitation",as both are forms of sexual abuse.
I was shocked that Children Now used this term; I initially thought thiswas a Home Office mistake but apparently not. They use the term childrenabused through prostitution.
In the workshops run on this issue by Dundee Children and Young Person'sProtection Committee we have moved away from the term prostitionaltogether, and use exploitation, in terms of children and youngpeople.
What we must be clear about is that there is no tolerance of childrenand young people being linked or involved in this so called sex industry- this is child abuse and those who participate are child abusers andtherefore sex offenders.
