But now the policy is in place, the real work of getting better foodinto schools will start. Judy Hargadon has the job of leading schoolsinto the fray. She's taken over as chief executive of the School FoodTrust, the independent schools advice body charged with pushing forwardthe momentum started by Jamie Oliver a year ago.
The standards mean things have got off to a good start, she says(Children Now, 24-30 May).
"We were delighted with them. The standards recognise the importance ofhaving a robust approach to school food. And they give a great sense ofdirection for action to put right years of neglect. Though I have to saythat there are fabulous examples out there of schools already doingwell," she adds.
