Inspections: Ofsted prioritises youth input under new regime

Ofsted, previously the Office for Standards in Education, was on 1 April renamed the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills, keeping the Ofsted brand.

Over the next few months, the inspectorate will issue a questionnaire to children and young people in every local authority in England asking them what they think of services for young people in their local area.

By 2010, it said it would increase the number of young people participating in consultations and that it would make sure those involved were fed back how the issues they raised were taken on board.

Although Ofsted say a "high percentage of children and young people" will be consulted, it has not specified targets.
